My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Thanks for giving a normal SOTU last night. At least a speech that was normal for you.
On NPR, Mara Liasson called it your “standard” stump speech rather than a reset. In the NYT, Katie Rogers noted that you were going for entertainment value by creating some spectacles like having the Olympic hockey team parade in & giving Capt. Royce Williams a medal. I wonder how many Americans were able to sit through the whole thing, as it far exceeded most attention spans.
I was disappointed you didn’t commit to avoiding war in Iran, but relieved to hear you say, ““My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy.” It’s too bad that you had to ruin the magic moment of bilateral approval when you talked about a law banning insider trading among Congress members by making a jab at Nancy Pelosi.
God is change, so, I continue to imagine your reset. I hope you will see the Light & begin to ask yourself, “what would love do?” “Can I lead by connecting rather than managing?”,
Speaking of connecting, what are your thoughts on bridges? Is that a topic you & Sec of Transept Sean Duffy will be talking about today? According to Politico a dozen bridges are at risk for ruin if a cargo ship runs amok. In addition, AI notes, “68 older bridges (built before 1991) have been flagged by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) for potential risk of collapse.” Please do more to address this situation.
Speaking of bridges, according to the Irrawaddy, XJ has been financing an upgrade to the Kenglat border facility in Burma at the Friendship Bridge over the Mekong River opposite Laos. It is another example of how China continues to be involved despite the conflicts in that part of the world. Please keep an eye out for creative interventions to ameliorate the suffering in Burma!
BYBS,
