My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

Did you hear that King Charles sent two books about soil to Aung San Suu Kyi? Maybe you could send her some books, too. 

SoW, have you heard of the book, Theo of Golden? I am just about to finish it. I read it because so many people loved it, including my mom, my teacher friend & my neighbor. When I told other friends I was reading it, they told me their book clubs had argued over it, so, while reading, I was mindful that it, like everything in this world, was flawed. I was ready to hate it or abandon it. Instead, I enjoyed the story while also noticing it wasn’t great literature.

Adopting that both/and perspective is my latest effort to be a sage warrior who practices revolutionary love, concepts I’ve gleaned from my acquaintance with Valerie Kaur. I’m using them differently than she does by applying them to a text rather than to people, but in choosing to appreciate the book, despite it’s flaws, I am breaking free of the binary thinking that leads to hate, aggression &, ultimately, violence.

You could experience this transformation, too. Perhaps we could work on it together. We could start by reading VK’s work or we could take one of her trainings but we’d have to pay for those. That format might suit you better than reading, but you’d have to devote some time to it. I am intrigued by the idea VK promotes of becoming intimate with my most powerful emotions & energies so I can decide what to do next.

I believe you would benefit from a new mindset, because your modus operandi is turning more & more people away from you. The folks standing in line for your rallies may still be invigorated by your anger, but the rest of us are weary of your rhetoric.

Even Melania seems to be distancing herself. At least that’s what The Huffington Post reporter observed at the signing of her new health initiative yesterday. You didn’t help yourself by telling the folks in the Rose Garden that your didn’t know “if her signature means anything.”

I am weary of your actions, too, including cutting down old trees, buddying up to VVP, arresting immigrants & accusing non-citizens of voting. We all want to see you doing more to help people by fixing the health system, bringing down the price of gas & ending wars.
