My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Are you working this morning? I ask because the WH has not published your schedule for today. Factba.se shows you meeting with the Chinese Ambassador on Sunday, but nothing for today. Are you worn out from the New Year's festivities?
Speaking of your vitality, your comments to the WSJ about your excessive aspirin consumption are being quoted in several media outlets. Are you worried about getting an ulcer? AI says that only those who have had a cardiovascular event should be taking more than 81 mg. I encourage you to cut back on popping pills & get a personal trainer. Exercise doesn't have to be boring. In 2025 I added a bit of jogging to my activities each week & I believe it got my AIC reading down. Speaking of which, what are your blood sugar stats?
OoM, I am curious about your two vetoes. Are you sure you want to stand in the way of the completion of the water pipeline for Southeast CO? I understand that federal investment in a project that will benefit a few folks living out in the middle of nowhere may be an inefficient use of resources, but this thing has been in the works since 1962 & to date, we've already invested more than $321 million in it. Everybody in Congress agreed to the "Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit (AVC) Act. According to AI it "did not establish a new funding amount but aimed to modify repayment terms for the project, including removing interest payments on non-federal cost shares & extending the repayment period from 50 to 100 years." That's not a big ask, so I think you should reconsider whether you want to harm your loyal voters with this move.
I do admire you for having the courage to say, NO. That can be challenging, especially when it's an unpopular decision. But, in the case of the AVC, demonstrating your fortitude might not be the best idea.
As usual, I hope you will closely monitor the situation in Burma & work with your people to come up with some creative solutions to the quagmire there.
BYBS,
