My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
I hope you enjoyed your trip to the Ryder’s Cup yesterday. I know you love golf, but I have to wonder about the wisdom of creating such a disruption to watch a few guys tee off. According to the BBC your visit “required the presence of about 500 law enforcement officers.” You might want to limit your sports excursions to avoid interfering with other fans’ experiences & to cut costs. Watch the match on TV instead to set an example of avoiding spending where possible. This will show your commitment to limiting waste & abuse.
I missed my letter yesterday because I was meeting Mr. G’s 4th graders. They are an eager bunch, but, unlike previous groups where a couple of kids would stood out on the 1st visit as potential leaders, none of the kids in this group had the confidence or courage to shine. Something to work on.
Speaking of leaders, I’m dismayed by today’s top story about ICE arresting Ian Andre Roberts (IAR), superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools. While he may have overstayed a visa, Iowans seem to be quite happy that he did so. He’s leading the district in a positive direction. Even Gov. Kim Reynolds thought so last year.
It’s unusual for a school leader to be as popular as IAR so I encourage you to pardon him for whatever transgressions he may have committed. You have been generous with your pardons in the past, so I’m sure it won’t be too difficult for you to make an exception for IAR.
As we consider the topic of punishment, I am wondering why we were so slow to sanction Royal Shune Lei, the Burmese company that’s been buying weapons for the junta. The EU sanctioned them in Dec, 2024. Perhaps this matter fell through the cracks in the transition between admins. In any case, I appreciate the effort to limit the junta’s access to bomb guidance kits, monitoring equipment & the like.
I’m off to the Oroville Salmon Festival to see what my daughter does at the Feather River fish hatchery.
BYBS,
