My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
I am in a rush today hoping to accomplish several things. This letter is just one of many priorities so I have limited time devote to it.
The quality of this letter might also be affected be various distractions. At this moment my husband is talking to PG&E about getting an energy audit for our building. Our power bill is higher than anticipated & we are eager to understand which of our activities is consuming the most electricity.
We have just learned that, unfortunately, PG&E does not offer energy audits to non-residential customers. Please consider authoring some legislation that would require them to do so.
The shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis also has me in edge because I am seeing how it being misconstrued. I find it troubling that Kristi Noem is calling the shooter a “deranged monster.” This rhetoric contributes to what Guy Debord called the “age of the spectacle,” when people experience the world as surreal inhabited by non-humans.
Benjamin Frymer referred to “the age of the spectacle” when explaining the alienation of today’s youth & described school shooters as having a “nihilistic rage” which comes from “existential despair, anger, & resignation (that) rises organically from social terrains devoid of everyday meaning & participation.” Clearly, the MN shooter was an “estranged” individual who undoubtedly experienced “cruelty, hypocrisy, & absurdity,” which they responded to by creating a spectacle to express their sense of isolation.
Some will blame the shooter’s gender dysphoria & others will point fingers at guns. We will all avoid examining our own participation in the cultural trends that led the shooter to feel so alienated.
I encourage you to resist dehumanizing the shooter. They were a misguided soul consumed by violent thoughts fueled by the internet. The accessibility of guns also contributed to the incident. Please encourage citizens to donate to Sandy Hook Promise in addition to praying for the victims, their families & the community.
Please keep an eye on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. XJ has invited General Min Aung Hlaing. They may be making some deals which might be detrimental to US interests. Best to stay alert.
