My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
How was your lunch with Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir(AM) yesterday? Some academics think it was a big deal that you hosted him at the WH. Raza Ahmad Rumi of NYU called it “protocol-redefining” noting your relationship with Pakistan could be “tactical romance, & like past dalliances, it could fade once strategic goals are met or regimes change.” Are you hoping to get access to Pakistan’s rare earth minerals?
Did you talk at all about gender issues? Are you aware that, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Index, Pakistan is second from the bottom in the “economic participation and opportunity” metric, with less than 25% of women active in the workforce? That’s such a waste!
Next time you host Pakistan leaders to the WH, please Maryam Nawaz so it doesn’t look like you are supportive of a military regime. She is the Chief Prime Minister of Punjab. Seeing her at the WH would inspire the women of her country to stand up for themselves.
SoW, it’s a day to celebrate old ladies! I’m thinking of Aung San Suu Kyi(ASSK) & Opal Lee. I hope you know who both are, but in case you don’t, I’ll remind you that ASSK got the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 & was the leader of Burma 2016 – 2021. Her son, Aris, managed to collect 103,000 videos with birthday greetings for her & says, ““her voice may be silenced, but her flame will never be extinguished.”
Our other granddam, Opal Lee, marched 1,400 miles from Fort Worth to D.C, at age 89, in 2016, in her campaign to make Juneteenth a national holiday. She yearn for a country without disparities, where everyone has rights. She often says, “none of us are free until we’re all free & we’re not free yet. We have too many disparities.” You can post that on Truth Social & get lots of likes & ReTruths.
Have you heard about the effort to start of Juneteenth Museum in Fort Worth? The founders want to “connect the stories of freedom of the enslaved to modern-day liberation.” They’ve got land & plans. Perhaps you could help raise $$ for them.
