My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
It looks like you had a blast with Dusty Baker, et al, yesterday when the Astros visited the WH. He’s an inspiration – still coaching at age 74!
Do you have eudaimonic well-being today? In other words, are you experiencing a sense of “growth, authenticity, meaning & excellence”? If so, it could have come to your connecting with nature yesterday at the Grand Canyon.
You are so lucky! I have not yet been there. I’d like to hike to the bottom, but finding a companion for that kind of escapade is challenging. Maybe we could go together.
Thanks for designating the area around the park as a National Monument. Protecting sites sacred to the Havasupai, Hopi, Hualapai, Paiute, Navajo, Yavapai-Apache, Zuni & Colorado River Indian Tribes is a first step in acknowledging that our relationship with the land needs to change from a mentality of extraction to one of veneration. I am still getting over the timber extraction on the land in WI that I hold dear, so I can imagine how the indigenous people of America feel when their special places are threatened by uranium mining & such.
Did you see the news about the UN report on the war crimes in Burma? It enumerates “the killings of civilians or combatants detained during operations as well as torture & horrific sexual violence.” The AJ quotes Nicholas Koumjian, head of the IIMM, “Every loss of life in Myanmar is tragic, but the devastation caused to whole communities through aerial bombardments & village burnings is particularly shocking.” Please highlight this situation when you get a chance & warn the world that something similar is beginning to happen in Niger. Then remind everyone WINTA & don’t sell anyone any weapons.
Enjoy your visit to AZ today.
BYBS,
RCA
