My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

Another quick note today as I have to run off to do a volume exploration with the 5th graders.

I was interested in a factoid you shared in Las Vegas yesterday. “3.4 million people with Medicare would have saved an average of nearly $70 on shingles, tetanus and other vaccines last year had the Inflation Reduction Act been in effect — a total savings of about $230 million.” I hope the right people were listening to that one.

Speaking of health, my teeth are now clean, but I have a broken filling, so I have to go back to Dr. Shannon. The hygienist gave me a tongue scraper. Holding the bacteria at bay takes constant vigilance.

Speaking of vigilance, I am not satisfied that we are being vigilant enough when it comes to Burma. UN’s Tom Andrews agrees with me. He told the G, “It is unspeakable what is happening & what is so incredibly frustrating is the fact that, as far as most of the world is concerned, this is not happening,” We are “watching a train wreck. Myanmar is a failing state, it is in the process of failing & this is happening before our very eyes.”

You jumped to action when a bank failed to prevent a domino effect. I encourage you to do the same with Burma. Failure is contagious & it’s only a matter of time before Burma’s violence spreads to Thailand, India & Bangladesh.

            Please do what you can,

            BYBS,
