My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Did you have fun at the American Possibilities event? Spectrum News, NY1, reports that you took a special interest in the video of deep-water creatures at the Nautilus Live booth. Isn’t it amazing that creatures can live in such a dark, high-pressure environment?  In 1986 my husband was an early visitor to the bottom of the ocean. He went there to study the new crust being laid down along the mid-Atlantic ridge. The geologists were surprised by the creatures. After that, the Alvin expeditions had as many biologists as geologists. Isn’t science cool?

            You must be happy about the election results. According to the WP top take aways include:

Abortion rights protected.

Youngkin down, Beshear up.

Promising! But no guarantee that you’ll win a year from now.

According to Michelle Cottle, you should take recent polling with a boatload of salt, but should also realize that “when Americans are feeling pessimistic, the president gets blamed.” She points out that voters are experiencing “inchoate disenchantment with the way things are,” so they may boot you. Stay vigilant!

            I believe that the younger generation will vote in droves, so you need to campaign more on environmental issues. An article in the CSM suggests that climate change is shaping a mindset revolution where our kids are “crafting a new ethos about consumption, ‘progress,’ & what it means to have a good life.” They reject the idea of never-ending expansion. The global connections afforded by the internet are empowering them to learn from each other to make a difference. They’ve got the energy to transform our way of life. Please encourage them!

            Please discourage military exercises. They waste energy & cultivate anxiety.

I’m sure you heard about the one today 85 nautical miles west of Myeik being called, “the Myanmar-Russia Maritime Security Exercise (MARUMEX)” involving ships & aircraft. Dang!
