My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

I’m back. Did anyone notice my absence? I used to wonder about that when I stayed home sick from school. Since the teacher was always too busy to welcome me back to the classroom, I assumed that my presence was not of much consequence to her. These days, while I understand the omission, I try not to commit it myself & make a point to check in with students who I did not see on a previous visit.

I can now count myself as a victim of CV. Not a terrible case, but awful timing, hitting just as I was supposed to attend my niece’s wedding. Tough luck!

As usual 45 is hogging the news. I am hoping Niki Haley whips up support in NH & gives him a run for his $$, quite literally!

I see that your folks are bummed that Honduran Pres Xiomara Castro has gotten the royal treatment by XJ on her visit to China for recognizing one-party rule. Rather than being troubled by it, just remind her of the girl scout motto, make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver & the other gold.

How are you feeling about DiFi’s passing? I regret that her last days were tainted by financial squabbles with her stepdaughter & accusations that she was too old to serve. According to former gay progressive supervisor Harry Britt, “she was a giver…a very compassionate person … a good queen.” I especially appreciate her willingness to speak truth to power regarding the treatment of detainees in the war on terror. What a great role model?

I loved seeing Selma Blair on the podium with her dog & her cane at your event to celebrate the ADA. Thanks for doing your part to ensure that your agencies try to employ differently abled folks. Since I live with one, I am in tune with their needs & their potential. Best not to waste that resource!

Please invite East Timor PM, Xanana Gusmao, to the WH to hear his thoughts on Burma. According to the WP, as statesman who fought for freedom & won, he has more international cred than most.

            BYBS,
