My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

It rained yesterday. Enough to saturate the top layer of soil. Yeah! Therefore, today will be a special day, where I spend more time attending to weeds. They are fun to pull when it’s wet.

Speaking of fun, did you know that in addition to a distinctive thumbprint, we all have a unique “funprint”? According to Martha Beck, it’s your personal language of joy & you need to become fluent in it. She distinguishes between “faux fun” which produces “manic giddiness” versus “real fun” which yields “nourishing pleasure.” She notes, “Real fun makes everyone feel better; faux fun makes everyone feel worse.” She argues that we are hard-wired to enjoy certain activities, where, we are so enrapt, we lose a sense of self & time. Gardening, patterning, teaching, baking, writing, communing & consuming the news do that for me. How about you?

Speaking of the news, I found some comfort in seeing in the CSM that folks in Palestine are helping each other by sheltering refugees & sharing their solar power for phone charging. I was saddened to read in Mizzima that the “Rohingya lie at the bottom of the pile of world aid priorities (because)… global politics have seen their cause slip down the list of priorities, particularly given the world media spotlight on the Middle East & the war in Ukraine, conflicts in Africa, & the global migration crisis affecting Western countries.” Please attend to their plight.

I am running out of room here so I will just mention that the G says you risk “blowing apart (your) own efforts to combat the climate crisis” & endanger climate goals by allowing LPG terminals in LA. Some are calling this a “carbon mega bomb,” & note “if all we do is shift from coal to gas, we are cooked.” What say you to this?

            BYBS,
