My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

In our Yangon Friends Zoom Meeting this morning, a Friend from India asked the group what it meant for us to have a Meeting for Worship. In particular, he wondered what we meant by “worship.”

It’s a reasonable question since our conceptions of God are personal & each of us communes with the greater power in our own way. One Friend likened our worship to a horse auction, where most of the time it impossible to understand the fast speech used by the auctioneer. Yet, every time a horse is sold, the price is declared in slow, clear language. Our worship is that pause in the rapid-fire stimulus we face in our 21st Century world. Another Friend spoke of her recent experience seeing the brightness caused by yesterday’s launch of the Starlink Mission & wondered if we had lost our ability to be awed. Worship is our time to wonder at the gift of life & the miracle of our planet.

For me awe comes in the synchronous moments when something happens that seems “meant to be.” I just had one of those when I happened to choose to read an article about the Bridge Studio in the KCS. It was an odd choice since I was looking for news about you, but I felt led to take a look. When I got to the part about Ike’s bridge playing, I noted how the article connected to the presidency. Then I saw Stepehn E Ambrose’s book quoted & I knew I had to tell you about the magic of the moment. Do you ever experience the higher power in this way?

Our Yangon group talked about the grief of the families of the children killed in the bombing in Let Yet Kone village last week. We are holding them in the Light. I hope you will do the same.
