My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

I’m sorry to hear that you tested positive again. That pesky virus! I’m sure you are frustrated.

I, too, am frustrated. Of course, we are always frustrated about something. My husband’s mantra used to be, “World not perfect.” As Quaker, Jim Corbett noted, “(we all seek) reconciliation, integration, and coherence rather than the denial or elimination of the Creation’s unbounded variety and unending change.” Finding that place of peace & truth is tricky business, so of course, we tend to be frustrated. I could go on about our abilities to channel our frustrations, but, alas, my time is limited.

If I were asked to list my frustrations, your silence on the Burmese executions would be #1. Today when I googled, “Biden Burma”, the most recent "hit” was from March, 2022, when CNN ran a piece, “Biden administration formally determines Myanmar’s military committed genocide.” That old news was about things that happened in 2017.

I know you have a lot going on & you aren’t functioning on all cylinders today, but I implore you to break your silence on Burma & condemn the junta for their announcement today to extend their military rule until 2023. You might also point out that they just detained Toru Kubota, a Japanese journalist. He was arrested for filming a protest in Yangon. As you know, freedom of the press is at the core of democracy, so it’s important that folks can document what’s going on.

            BYBS,

            RCA
