My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            I hope your trip to Lorain, OH goes well today. While it’s doubtful that the Black River will ever be fully restored after the damage that US Steel did dumping its waste there, habitat management & algae removal will, at least, make it look better. Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons are not so easy to remediate, so it might be some time before the tumors on the Black River fish go away. I hope that Sen. Rob Portman joins you to celebrate the $$ that will be spent on improving the Great Lake basin.

            Did you hear that the International Court is letting the junta defend Myanmar in the Rohingya genocide case? While that’s a complicated situation, I don’t think it’s a good idea to give the generals legitimacy. I encourage you to look into this & register concern.

            Do you think that the situation with that 15-year-old Russian skater is some kind of sign about the failings of the Russian ethos? Even though I’m ¼ Russian, I suspect that illusions of grandeur plague the Soviet soul. Let’s hope that VVP comes to his senses.
