My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

Thanks for celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act yesterday. Artist Tyree Brown was an excellent choice to serve as a representative of the disabled community. It’s inspiring to see that she continues to make art despite losing the use of her dominant hand & the ability to stand. Now that my husband has mobility issues, I have become sensitive to how most of the world is inaccessible to him. I am grateful that for folks like Sen. Tom Harkin whose brother’s deafness made him sensitive to disability issues & is making laws to improve lives.

I was sorry to hear about the passing of former WY Sen Michael Enzi. I suspect that you, two, hit it off. Even though he was a Republican, I assume his “low-key consensus seeking” problem solving approach appealed to you.

I noticed that your twitter feed keeps repeating “Infrastructure O’Clock.” I’m not sure what that means, but I’m glad to know that fixing our Infrastructure remains a priority for you.

Congrats on a positive meeting with Iraq President Mustafa Al-Kadhimi. It’s about time we ended the “global war on terrorism.” I liked the rhetoric of “interfaith tolerance” & “free/fair elections.” It’s amazing to me that Saddam Hussein’s country has become a democracy (sort of). I would not have bet on that in 2000.

That kind of change gives me hope that we will eventually see change in Myanmar & maybe, even, China.

            BYBS,

            RCA
