My Friend & POTUS, JRB,

It’s Cinco de Mayo & I’m afraid that some college kids are going to offend some people today. Isn’t it disappointed that our culture has taken a turn where being offensive is acceptable, if not preferable, to many?

I was interested to find out that the celebration has its origins in CA where folks of Mexican descent were happy to learn that a small group of men in Puebla fought off Napolean’s troops in 1862. If they hadn’t been successful, it’s possible that the French would have helped the Confederacy & the Civil War might have turned out very differently. Chicano activists reinvigorated the holiday in the 60’s & beer companies coopted it in the ‘90s. Perhaps you can bring this true history to light & discourage cultural appropriation.

I understand that Myanmar’s UN Ambassador, Kyaw Moe Tun (KMT), visited the House Foreign Affairs Committee & told them to sanction the state-owned Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank (MFTB) and Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE). I wonder if he mentioned the illegal mining that has sprung up in the Kachin region where tremendous environmental damage is being done by folks digging up Rare Earth minerals. KMT warned that the regional security is under threat so we need to stay alert & figure out a creative solution.
