MDF&P, JRB,

Drip, drop, it’s still raining. The sun has not been seen for a couple of days & I am trying not to let it get me down. Looks like things are cloudy in DC, too, so you know what I’m talking about.

Thanks for pausing the student loan payments – that story was on the front page of the Sac Bee & the KCS.  You need to do more of that kind of thing to stay on the front page of the local newspapers.

Charles Blow (CB), writing in the NYT, agrees with me about this. He’s worried that in your effort to be the “elder statesman” with “calm resolve,” you now appear “voiceless & vacant.”  According to CB, “if you put a megaphone down, someone else will pick it up. Silence creates a void aching to be filled.” It’s time to fill the void.

In addition to forgiving student loan debt, you could announce your new, more focused, legislative agenda to COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE (CCC). Perhaps do something to help Christmas tree growers in OR where the Noble Fir trees got severely damaged by last year’s heat wave. Help them find a new crop & popularize the idea of decorating a branch rather than a tree. Now that would make some news.

You could also make some noise about Myanmar where the junta plans to wait until Aug 2023 to have a “fresh election.” They plan to distribute ID cards to “voters.” You can use that as an example of the kind of infringement on voter’s rights that DJT is conjuring up right now & is NOT democratic.

As much as I hate to say it, we might have to stop treating DJT like Voldemort & start saying his name. Yale history prof, Timothy Snyder, got my attention this AM, when he said on NPR that, “part of telling the big lie is that you immediately say it's the other side that tells the big lie.” You need to remind America that you won the election fair & square & that DJT is perpetuating a myth.
