It’s D-Day. To celebrate, my neighbor gave me the Limited-Edition CD of Saving Private Ryan (SPR) which has “Bonus Features” including commentary by my uncle who thought it was the “greatest war film ever made.” I have avoided watching SPR. I didn’t enjoy the visceral reaction I had to Platoon & Apocalypse Now just freaked me out. I haven’t watched a war movie since, although 1917, which came out last year, looks intriguing.
Do you have a favorite war movie? I understand that your favorite movie is “Citizen Kane.” I haven’t seen that one either. Maybe it’s time to take a look. I will definitely watch SPR with my daughter when she visits next week. Do you think we should quarantine her?
` I was relieved to see that your trip to ME yesterday went ok. It always worries me when civilians with automatic weapons claim to be peace keepers. Help me understand how guns keep peace.
Do you like cilantro? A guy once told me that you either love it or you hate it. I’m afraid that you’re a bit like cilantro. You’ve got your lovers & your haters. At least that’s what I saw in the photos from the Portland Press Herald. What did you think of those cotton swabs at the Puritan plant? I hope I don’t have to have one of those things stuck up my nose. Ouch! How can you stand that every other day?
Did you hear some ME accents at the lobster press conference? I’m afraid your plan to subsidize the lobster industry won’t have a long-lasting effect if the climate keeps changing. The Gulf of Maine might get too warm & those crustaceans might just head up to Canada. That’ll make the Chinese happy because apparently once you slapped tariffs on their products, they slapped tariffs on our lobsters. The Chinese can get all the lobsters they need from the Canuks so they can avoid American lobsters from now on. Too bad for the ME lobster farmers.
