My dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

Where are your warm greeting to the folks who celebrate Eid? I assume you’ll be sharing those later today.  Here in SoCal mosques have been broadcasting the adhan from their rooftops for the duration of Ramadan. Some of the neighbors don’t like it, but I think it’s great! I assume you do, too, given your remarks yesterday that “We need more prayer, not less.”

By the way I agree about that, but as our Muslim brethren are demonstrating we don’t have to pray in a building.  If you do want folks to go to church, I encourage you to set an example. You can do that two ways: 1) Go yourself. 2) Wear a mask when you do.

Speaking of masks, have you seen ND Gov. Doug Burgum’s speech on Twitter where he got choked up thinking of someone being mocked for wearing a mask because they have a vulnerable person at home. He’s worried that people are associating masks with a political statement and made a heartfelt plea to the people of his state to be “North Dakota Smart and North Dakota Kind and North Dakota Empathetic?” I’m sure he would appreciate your support in getting out his message.

Are you sure Marshall Billinglea is the right guy to put in charge of negotiating nuclear treaties? I’m sure that you are aware that his former boss, Jesse Helms, voted against several nuclear treaties. I believe that you and I are on the same page in believing that WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER. So why even consider testing nuclear weapons???? Why pull out of nuclear war treaties? Heather Cox Richardson speculates you are currying the favor of some folks who profit from nuclear weapons. Please assure me that’s not the case.

I have to run off to the Farmer’s Market to get some strawberries. I’ll be wearing my mask & riding my bike. I wish you could join me.

            Best,

            HYITL,
