My dear Friend & President, DJT,

This will be a quickie because I have the termite inspector coming at 9:00 to check out a corner of our house where I saw some of those pests a couple of weeks ago. Isn’t it amazing that such tiny things can do so much damage?

I guess we’re seeing that with CV. How can such a microscopic particle wreck so much havoc???

Today I am wondering about MRP? Why is he wandering around Mayo Clinic barefaced? I know he is an attractive guy with a winning smile, but now is the not the time for vanity. Even though it’s difficult to talk through a mask, don’t you think he should be setting a good example? Please remind him of what Dr. Vin Gupta told NBC, “So much of public health and leadership is about optics." I think you need to remind NJ Gov Phil Murphy of that, too. Going to the WH in person today to meet with you when the rest of us are Zooming just doesn’t sit well.

It’s too bad that so many people in NJ are struggling. According to today’s NYT, 40% of the households there have at least one person who is out of work. As we get out of this, wouldn’t it be great if we could find a new form of employment for all of those casino employees from the South Jersey shore? Dealing cards in smoke-filled dark spaces is now more hazardous to their health than ever. How about some solar energy work? It has its dangers, too, but catching CV-19 is not one of them.

I was happy to hear from ASF on NPR yesterday talking about a double-blind trial of remdesivir that showed patients got better in 11 days when taking the drug as compared to 15 days with the placebo.  It improved survival rates, too, from 89% to 92%. A similar Chinese study did not generate statistically significant results but that happens when the benefit is modest. ASF says it’s proof of concept that CV is treatable. YEAH!!!

            HYITL,
