The feisty lady that you like to call “Pocahontas” refuses to give up! You gotta respect that. She’s showing that same kind of resilience and tenacity that you have. Her debate performance suggests that you’ll have your hands full if she gets the nomination. It’ll be fascinating to see how the Nevada caucus turns out today to see how her aggressive approach worked out for her.

You might take a peek at David Brooks (DB) piece from Thursday’s NYT. He asserts that you and Bernie are “myth makers” who are building on stories we’ve been telling each other for years. Yours is about ‘coastal elites’ who mismanaged the country. Bernie’s is about greedy rich folk who hoard their wealth. My dad tended to subscribe to the first myth and I to the second. Unfortunately, both are divisive myths being told by “one trick ponies” who “stand on podiums and bellow” cultivating fear. DB claims we need a “gathering myth” about coming together across diversity to fix the damaged systems in our lives.

It’s not too late for you to change your tune. I would love it if you could become a kinder, gentler president. Is that your plan? Continue to be aggressive and nasty, get re-elected and then show your softer side? I keep being surprised by what’s happening in our country so I can imagine such a scenario. Please consider it. Better late than never.

BYBS,
