My dear Friend, DJT,

Congratulations – you held it together last night. Even the NYT gave you credit for being disciplined.

Didn’t Kristen Welker do a good job? I think she truly “moderated” you. She helped you become less intense, less extreme, less violent. Perhaps you should always have the threat of a mute button hanging over you so you can articulate your thoughts rather than express your emotions.

The most surprising moment of the debate came at the end when JRB said he’d replace the oil industry with renewables, & you jumped on it. I thought it was dramatic, but it didn’t make the front page of the WSJ so I guess it didn’t hit the radar screen. Apparently, most voters have already made up their minds & since neither of you made a major mistake, nothing has changed much.

I see that you are headed off to Pensacola today. I was surprised to see that they are having the Interstate Fair there with folks crowded on to the midway to get their caramel corn. I hope it’s not another super-spreader event. Please encourage them to put on their masks so we don’t have another Sturgis.

I learned today that their 3-mile bridge is out of commission because in the midst of a $430.2 million renovation, it got hit by some runaway barges during Hurricane Sally’s storm surge last month. Now the folks in Gulf Breeze have to take a ferry to Pensacola. Clearly, they need to redesign the bridge so the same thing doesn’t happen in the next storm. I encourage you to go see it. Then you’ll see how ill-advised your changes to the Environmental Protection Act are. You’ll see that it makes a lot of sense for planners to take climate change into account so we don’t waste $$ building stuff that’s not going to weather our new storms.

Hang in there. Just 11 more days to go.

            HYITL,
