My dear Friend and President, DJT,

I'm glad that you will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah today in the WH. I look forward to finding out who will be there. You're a couple of days early but maybe you do it that way so your guests can be at home when the holiday actually starts on Sunday. Will someone blow the shofar?

I didn't know that the idea behind the holy day is that we all pass before G-d who then decides our fate for the year. That idea doesn't coincide with my sense of a higher power. I'm a mystic and cannot claim to know G-d. I just experience a higher power from time to time and rejoice in the mystery. For example, a couple of days ago I decided to write a note to a friend I hadn't heard from in a while. When I reached into my box full of postcards the first one I grabbed was from his hometown. That kind of synchronicity blows me away. Anyway, even though I don't think that there's an individual with supernatural powers deciding my fate, I can get on board with inner renewal and divine atonement. I think you could use some of that, too.

I hope your event celebrating Hispanic Month goes well. I encourage you to use that event as an opportunity for atonement. I'm afraid Hispanics have suffered a lot of mistreatment in the USA. The Mexican Repatriation Act that Hoover instituted during the depression was probably the worst. The Hispanic community is still in grief from the El Paso shootings so I hope you will express your sympathies about that.

You are lucky to have Kellyanne Conway on your team. I was almost persuaded by her comments on PBS last night, although I wondered about why she was wearing such glittery eye shadow.

I am headed off to do some math with kids today. Should be fun!

PS - I feel bad for former Ukrainian ambassador, Marie L. Yovanovitch. It sounds like you fired a talented diplomat. Perhaps your Jewish New Year resolution can be to stop firing people.
