How was Bedminster this weekend? How many people paid $25,000 to get a photo with you? Is that really the best way to raise money? When we meet will I have to pay for a photo? When I was in junior high, kids claimed that the richest girl in our class was "buying" friends by inviting them to her house and giving them stuff. Are those rich folks "buying" your friendship? I certainly hope not.

I hope your visit with Pakistanian PM Imran Khan goes well today. According to the headline in the WP he's "troubled." I hope you can help him.

Speaking of "troubled," that's how I am feeling about the crackdown on Chinese scholars I read about in today's LA Times. I really don't think it's a good idea to harass brilliant people and accuse them of being spies. MIT President L. Rafael Reifsays that his folks feel "unfairly scrutinized, stigmatized and on edge, because of their Chinese ethnicity alone." Shunda Chen, a postdoc at UCD studies nanomaterials to convert wasted heat into useful energy. He's afraid to visit his family in China because he might not be able to get back into the US. I am writing a grant with a couple of Chinese scholars. I hope they'll be ok.

I'm sure this idea to scrutinize Chinese academics comes from that misguided kid, Stephen Miller. Donald, when will you stop listening to him and get him the help he needs? I'm sure that he's behind this "squad" 'hates' America idea. He gave a convoluted explanation of that to Fox News yesterday. I think he needs to examine his love for you, (clearly, the man adores you). He knows you have flaws and make mistakes, and yet, he continues to love you. That's the way that the "squad" feels about our country.

I dream of the day when we can stop labeling people as "racist" or "haters" and agree to disagree as we seek a better world. As Dr. Shirley Mengof UCSD says, to solve some of our biggest challenges, " the whole world has to work together." I hope we can start doing that.

            Best,

            RCA
