My dear Friend and President, DJT,

I didn't get a chance to write this morning because I had to run out of the house so I could do a volume activity with the 5th graders. Today they built a polyhedron that had a volume of at least 300 cubic centimeters and less than 1000 cubic centimeters. They had other specifications as well and a 30-minute time limit. Most got the job done but some got creative and didn't finish.

Does that ever happen to you? Do you ever get so carried away that you lose track of time? It happens to me in the garden and I consider it such a blessing. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi calls it flow and he believes it is the height of human existence.

I encourage you to look him up. He once said, "Repression is not the way to virtue. When people restrain themselves out of fear, their lives are by necessity diminished. Only through freely chosen discipline can life be enjoyed and still kept within the bounds of reason." I'm afraid that you tend toward the fear factor and might try considering the alternative so everyone can enjoy their lives.

I am sure you are having a blast with your Brazilian buddy who is also the repressive sort. You both need to spend some time with NZ leader, Jacinda Ardern. She'd help you develop some grace and dignity.

 Gotta go make dinner,

Best,

RCA[
