My dear Friend and President, DJT,

Top of the morning to you! That's the what the Irish say, isn't it? Please ask Leo Varadkar when you see him today. I'll bet he is thrilled that the annual visit of Ireland's Taoiseach to the WH coincided with the final days of working through Brexit. He will probably remind you that Ireland is in the top ten of investors in the US and that it can be a bridge between the US and the EU. I suggest you avoid talking about social matters, unless his husband performed a miracle in his meeting with MVP yesterday and managed to convince him that gay marriage is not the road to hell he thinks it is. I hope you enjoy the Shamrock Bowl Presentation and that you will keep your remarks to the press upbeat and light.

I understand that Friend of Ireland and MA Rep. Richard Neal (D) may join you at some point. According to the Boston Globe (BG), he's quite the gentleman. He keeps a low profile and doesn't say much, living by the credo, "Just remember, you never have to explain anything you didn’t say." You might consider adopting that credo yourself.

As you are well aware Richie's got some clout right now that could have a profound effect on you so better be on your best behavior. One offensive comment and he might decide to ask to see ALL of your tax returns in his role as the new Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee. The BG says, "he prides himself on his bipartisanship, pragmatism, and institutionalism" so I believe he will treat you fairly. I encourage you to start by talking to him about your mutual love of the Yankees and then go from there.

 Best,
