My dear Friend and President, DJT,

Happy Birthday to me (59), and to China (70) and to my farmer friend, Bish (60), and to my former student, Angie (35?), and to my colleague’s son (9), and to all of the other folk born on the first day of the 10th month.

Are you going to call XJ to wish him well? If you do, please ask him to pull his troops out of Hong Kong. 12,000 young men with guns could do some damage to their peers out in the streets of the city with their face masks and umbrellas. One protestor was shot yesterday. I hope he's the last one.

On your call to XJ, you could give me the best birthday present ever by agreeing to dismantle some nuclear weapons. There's a super scary one on display today in Tiananmen Square, the Dongfeng-41 missile, one of the world’s longest-range intercontinental ballistic missiles, capable of striking the U.S. with 10 nuclear warheads at once, each with a different target. You were talking about our new nukes at Mark Miley's swearing in ceremony yesterday and how you hope to God never to use them. You both could save a lot of money if you just agreed to stop building the things. I would be eternally grateful for that gift.

The crows are beckoning me to get on with my day so I think I shall,

            Best,
