My dear Friend and President, DJT,

How was your dinner at Number One Observatory Circle with Mike, Mick and Jared? That trio sounds like a rock band, don't you think? Did you come up with some creative solutions to your situations? Did you talk about the shut down?

According to all of the papers this shut down is starting to affect people. I hope no one gets evicted. Have you been evicted? I haven't. I can only imagine how devastating that would be, especially when it's not your fault that you aren't getting a pay check. Perhaps you can make a plea to all of the landlords out there not to evict any of the federal employees that might be without a paycheck on Jan 11. That might make our civil servants feel a bit better. Of course, the landlords have their mortgages to pay so you'd have to ask the banks to be lenient about those payments. Then the banks would need to delay lending other people money, and on and on. Probably best to stop this shut down before Jan 11 to avoid this cascade effect.

I don't think that shutting down the Mexican border is the answer. That's just an idle threat, right?

Did you thank the 13 pool journalists who joined you on your surprise trip to Iraq for keeping the trip a secret? Tamara Keith says she had to ditch her family on Christmas Day and only her husband knew what she was up to. Perhaps you should be a bit nicer to the press for at least a few weeks.

Did you take a minute to go into the Naval Observatory while you were at Mike's house? Seeing the stars is always a healthy humbling experience. It helps us to recall we are only small specks in a great big universe.

 Have a great day,
