My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

God is Change!!! As you will recall that mantra comes from Octavia Butler’s character, Lauren Oya Olamina, who proposed, “All that you touch You Change. All that you Change Changes you. The only lasting truth is Change.” 

This mantra helps me embrace uncertainty, expect the unexpected & face the future with curiosity rather than dread. As we continue to face more transience, novelty, & diversity, we need to take it all in & find the opportunities for growth so we keep adapting to our dynamic environment while staying true to ourselves.

In that spirit, I am making a minor change in the way I approach these letter by starting with Burma, rather than ending with it. 

You may have read in the BBC that “MAH was given a red-carpet welcome by the Thai prime minister Anutin Charnvirakul” as part of what the Thai’s are calling "calibrated re-engagement.” Critics, such as Justice for Myanmar say “the Thai government continues to lend the junta false legitimacy through its ongoing diplomatic engagements," 

I’m not sure what level of diplomacy is appropriate for Burma, but you need to keep it on your radar screen. Its proximity to the Strait of Malacca makes it a place of critical military importance, as does its rare earth minerals.

Perhaps you should ask about Burma’s mineral wealth at today’s Roundtable on American Mining. The geologists there might be able to educate you about what Burma has to offer. 

OoM, I encourage you to head out to the Great American Farmers Market at 1400 Independence Ave SW to draw attention to National Farmers Market week. You can talk to the growers & find out why the Farm Bill needs to be changed to better support their efforts. Tasting some fresh peaches & tomatoes might convert you to being a veggie lover.
